OREANDA-NEWS  The Colombian Foreign Ministry handed the Russian Ambassador to Bogota a note of protest over the violation of the country's airspace by the Russian Il-96 aircraft. This was stated by the head of department Claudia Bloom.

Claudia Bloom notes that Nikolai Tavdumadze, who serves as the Russian ambassador to Colombia, was informed of the importance of an immediate response from the Russian government and the need to ensure that serious and systematic violations of Colombian airspace do not recur.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Colombia reported that it was lifting fighters into the air to intercept the Russian plane. Il-96-400VPU en route from Moscow and had permission to fly through the waters of Colombia, but the actual coordinates of its entry into the airspace of this country differed from those declared.
