OREANDA-NEWS. The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of accelerating the approval of using the coronavirus vaccine being developed in the University of Oxford together with the company AstraZeneca. This was reported by the newspaper Financial Times, citing three sources.

According to the publication, as one of the options, Washington admits the possibility when the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would issue the so-called emergency use authorization (mechanism that allows the use of unapproved medications in the emergency cases to diagnose, treat, or prevent serious illness). If this scenario is realized, the FDA will have to make a decision based on the results of research on a drug. If successful, the vaccine could be approved for use in the United States in October, before the presidential election, Financial Times adds.
