OREANDA-NEWS. The Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) stopped the activities of the cell of the terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

The members of this group were going to commit sabotage and terrorist acts on the territory of the Moscow Region, the FSB Public Relations Center reported. “The purpose of the cell’s activities was also to attract new members to the ranks of the Islamic State and to finance terrorism,” the statement says.

One of the group members, a citizen of one of the Central Asian countries, was detained in the Vladimir Region, the FSB informed. During the searches, officers seized an improvised explosive device with striking elements, as well as documents.

On November 16, the FSB announced the prevention of a series of terrorist attacks in the Voronezh Region, the criminal community was formed in a penal colony. “The FSB has suppressed the activities of the terrorist community… members of which have been repeatedly convicted of grave and especially grave crimes,” the FSB reported then.
