OREANDA-NEWS. In the city of Astrakhan, officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) detained a supporter of the terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (banned in the country), who was planning to carry out a terrorist attack.

“It was established that an Astrakhan resident born in 1987 intending to join illegal armed groups operating in the Syrian Arab Republic… decided to commit a terrorist act in the city of Astrakhan by means of an armed attack on administrative buildings. Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Astrakhan Region suppressed the activities of a citizen of the Russian Federation,” the FSB press service’s statement reads.

The criminal was detained in the house where he lived. During a search, signal pistol remade for firing live ammunition, cartridges, two grenades, fuses and banned extremist literature were confiscated.
