OREANDA-NEWS. The second wave of coronavirus epidemic has begun in Germany. This was stated by the chairman of the association of German medics Marburger Bund, Susanne Johna, in an interview with the newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine.

“We are already experiencing a second wave of growth,” she said, noting that it is weaker than the first outbreak in March–April. The number of new infections is increasing, and until a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 is developed, it is necessary to contain its spread, the head of the association said. “There is a growing danger that we will miss the successes that have been achieved in Germany,” Johna warned. The chair of the Marburger Bund assured that hospitals in the country are ready for the second wave of coronavirus, since the growth of a threat is gradual.

According to the portal Worldometer, 212,320 cases of COVID-19 were registered in Germany. 194,700 patients recovered. 9,232 people died.
