OREANDA-NEWS. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attempts of his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron for trying to mediate in the current situation between Moscow and Kyiv. The Ukrainian side will not make concessions, he said in an interview with the Italian channel Rai 1.

We should not look for a way out for Russia, Macron is doing it in vain... Macron wanted to find certain results in mediation between us and did not find it, Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president added that it was incorrect for other leaders to suggest that he make concessions related to sovereignty in order to "save Putin's face." He stressed that Ukraine is not ready to give up its territories.

According to Zelensky, he is ready to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but without intermediaries. He also stated that Ukraine would not recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation and discuss the autonomy of the DNR and LNR.

Earlier, Macron spoke in favor of continuing negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. He stressed that a ceasefire must be achieved as soon as possible. The French leader also proposed the creation of a new "European political community" that would be able to accept Ukraine and other countries aspiring to the EU.
