OREANDA-NEWS. Vaccination against coronavirus of a new type will begin in all European Union member countries from December 27 to 29.

This was announced on Thursday by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. “On 27, 28 and 29 December vaccination will start across the EU. It’s Europe’s moment. We protect our citizens together. We are stronger together,” the politician wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, the European Medicines Agency reported that it will take a decision on a vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech on December 21. In turn, the European Commission announced that two days later it will be able to authorize the use of the vaccine in the EU countries.

The problem with defining a single day for the start of vaccination throughout the EU, as the European Commission initially wanted to do, is caused by the fact that not all EU member states are equally ready for the logistics for vaccination and so far it is not possible to organize the simultaneous delivery of the required number of doses of the drug to all countrios of the Union.
