OREANDA-NEWS. Quarantine measures in London will be tightened since October 17 due to an increase in the number of coronavirus infections. This was announced by Secretary of State for Health and Social Care of the United Kingdom, Matt Hancock.

According to the three-tier system of restrictions introduced since Wednesday, London was at the first stage, when meetings were allowed for groups of up to six people, all shops and restaurants worked as usual, but not later than 10:00 pm.

During consultations with the mayor and local authorities, the decision was made that London should be placed on the second level, Hancock said, speaking in the House of Commons. The second stage of restrictions provides for a ban on any meeting of people who do not live together and visiting. Outdoors, people cannot meet in groups of more than six people. It is recommended not to use public transport and to refuse not vital trips around the city and across the country.

The Manchester metropolitan borough, Birmingham and its environs, the counties of Cheshire, Lancashire, Derbyshire, West and South Yorkshire, cities of Leicester, Newcastle, Nottingham and other settlements are already at the second stage. Together with London, a second tier of restrictions is also being introduced in the Essex County.
