OREANDA-NEWS. At least 20 civilians were killed in an airstrike from an unidentified airplane in central part of Mali. This was reported by local newspaper A Bamaco, citing sources.

The incident took place on Monday night in the village located near the town of Douentza (Mopti Region). Participants in the wedding ceremony were bombed. 20 people were wounded.

The publication assumes that the attack is a mistake of military pilots. The Malian Air Force, the French military conducting Operation Barkhane and peacekeepers from the UN mission have combat aviation on the territory of the country, the newspaper notes.

The EFE news agency, citing local mayor Adama Griaba, reports that a hundred people were killed during the attack.

The official authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
