In Russia, Allowed the Operation of the First Floating NPP
OREANDA-NEWS Rostekhnadzor issued a permit to operate the world's first floating power unit, Akademik Lomonosov, until 2029.
Academician Lomonosov was created to provide electricity to remote stations, cities and the oil and gas industry of the Far North and the Far East as part of a floating nuclear power plant.
It is noted that hundreds of Rosatom enterprises worked on the project.
The construction of the unit began in 2007. The prospect of its use is considered as long-term. In the near future, the power unit will be able to start work, and it is quite possible to replace several CHP plants in Chukotka.
