OREANDA-NEWS. The Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation, together with the Investigative Committee of Russia (Sledkom), stopped the fundraising for the terrorist groups Imarat Kavraz and the Islamic State (terrorist organizations banned at the territory of the country).

It is reported that a brother and sister from Kabardino-Balkaria transferred money abroad to carry out terrorist attacks in Syria. In total, the organization, operating in nine regions of Russia, consisted of about a hundred people, among them were participants in the attack on Nalchik in 2005.

The organizers were detained. During the search, 60 bank cards, 6 thousand US dollars and ten phones, as well as banned literature were found.

According to investigators, a group of Russian citizens, under the guise of charity, raised funds to support the terrorist organizations in nine regions of Russia: in the republics of Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachai-Cherkessia, Ingushetia and Tatarstan, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, the Tyumen Region, Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Their conspiracy center was located in Kabardino-Balkaria, the reports were sent abroad from it.

The FSB officers said that in total more than 6 million roubles (over 90 thousand dollars) were collected, they were transferred to finance terrorist attacks in Syria.

The Sledkom suspects that detained brother and sister began fundraising for terrorists in February 2015.

It is also noted that Sledkom officer, together with the FSB, conducted more than 90 searches. Criminal proceedings were also begun against several counterparties of detained persons. “The criminal investigation is ongoing,” the Sledkom representative said.
