OREANDA-NEWS. In the capital of the unrecognized Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, Stepanakert, a series of about 20 explosions of artillery shells was heard. This was reported on the morning of October 5 by a correspondent of the newspaper Izvestia.

The press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry Shushan Stepanyan wrote on her Facebook page that the enemy is launching missile strikes on Stepanakert with great intensity.

Aggravation of the military conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh began on September 27. Yerevan and Baku accused each other of shelling, destruction and death of civilians. On October 1, the leaders of the countries of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, presidents of the USA, Russia and France, Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron, issued a joint statement on Nagorno-Karabakh, urging to introduce a truce. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan greeted the call and stated that within the framework of the Minsk Group the issue of entering Russian peacekeepers into Nagorno-Karabakh could be raised.
