OREANDA-NEWS. The Armed Forces of India decided to purchase 400 Russian tanks T-90S, produced in the country under license.

This was announced by the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia Dmitry Shugaev in an interview with Russia 24 television channel. “The Indian Armed Forces made a decision to increase the purchase of T-90S tanks, which they produce under license, and last year we signed an agreement to extend the license until 2028, for another 400 pieces,” he said.

Earlier, Shugaev said that by the end of 2024, Russia would supply India with all the contracted air defense systems S-400.

As for T90, India is one of the largest operators of these tanks. According to the Military Balance 2019, more than 1,025 tanks are in service in the country’s ground forces.
