OREANDA-NEWS. The Biotech/Pfizer coronavirus vaccine is approved for immunization of children aged five to eleven years in Israel. The relevant decision was made on Sunday, November 14, by the Ministry of Health of the country. Previously, permission for vaccination against coronavirus was extended only to children aged 12 and older and adults.

The members of a group of experts consulted by the Ministry of Health, quoted by the Israeli publication Haaretz, almost unanimously concluded that «the benefits of the vaccine far outweigh it's risks». The Commission also overwhelmingly recommended vaccinating even those children who have already suffered a coronavirus infection.

According to the Keshet-12 TV channel, ampoules with Biotech/Pfizer vaccine in «children's dosage» should arrive in Israel by November 18. that will allow the vaccination campaign of young children to begin immediately.

As indicated in the Ministry of Health of the country, the fourth wave of the epidemic in Israel is on the decline. In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,337,041 cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the country (+3298 per week). At the same time, 5843 people are currently being treated (-550 per week). 8140 (+26 in a week) COVID-19 cases died.

As of November 14, 6,256,219 people (67 percent of the country's population, 92 percent of the adult population) received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, and 5,752,941 people (62% of the country's population, 84% of the adult population) received the second dose. 4,016,195 people were vaccinated with the third dose (43% of the country's population, 59% of the adult population).

Vaccination rates have decreased in recent months.
