This was stated by the head of the Foreign Ministry of the tropical state Abdulla Shahid, who visited Moscow a month ago.

“We decided to open an embassy in Russia, because we believe that Moscow is one of the very important centers of power. We need to continue to contact the government in Moscow, ”said the head of the diplomatic department of the Maldives.

Among the tasks of the embassy, ​​the minister named the development of economic relations between Male and Moscow, RIA Novosti reports.

Recall, the agreement between Russia and the Maldives on the abolition of mutual visa requirements came into force from today, July 25. The document was signed a month ago. According to the agreements reached, Russian travelers will be able to visit the Maldives with a foreign passport without a visa for three months, Ridus reported.
