OREANDA-NEWSTokyo expects that at the Fifth Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held on September 4-6, new ideas and projects will be announced on the implementation of the eight-point cooperation plan with Russia. This was stated to the Russian media by the Japanese ambassador in Moscow Toyohisa Kodzuki.

According to him, the EEF is an important platform where a large number of leaders of governments and companies from around the world meet. “As far as I know, a large number of Japanese companies are planning to take part in the WEF this year”, the diplomat noted. “According to the WEF program, in particular, performances by Toyo Trans President Isao Takahashi and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Medical Tourism Japan Katsuya Sakagami are planned, Senior Managing Director, Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Tadashi Maeda".

He added that Moscow and Tokyo agreed to hold a year of inter-regional exchanges in 2020. The ambassador noted that among the Japanese participants at the Eastern Economic Forum there are many representatives of regional local authorities. “We draw attention to such an effect as the promotion of inter-regional exchanges”, he said. “In particular, an agreement has been reached to conduct interregional exchanges between Japan and Russia next year. The Eastern Economic Forum will create the basis for the formation of new exchanges between the regions of Japan and Russia".

The V Eastern Economic Forum, in which more than 30 thousand participants take part, will be held in Vladivostok. Key events will unfold on Russky Island on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University, a number of events will be held at other venues in the city. The Japanese delegation at the forum will be led by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, on September 5, negotiations will be held with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
