OREANDA-NEWS. Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei has banned import of coronavirus vaccines from Great Britain and the United States.

“The import of British and American vaccines is prohibited. If the Americans managed to create a vaccine, there would not be such a shameful situation with the coronavirus,” the politician said during a televised speech. He noted that the same situation is with the United Kingdom, referring to high death rates from COVID-19. “There is no trust in them. In some cases, they want to test the vaccine on others, to see if it works or not,” Khamenei added, noting that he is also not optimistic about France.

At the same time, according to the supreme leader of Iran, if in other countries there is a vaccine that can be trusted, then there will be no problems with its purchase.

Iran is currently developing its own COVID-19 vaccines. It is known that Tehran expects to receive the first drug in the spring, and two or three more are planned to be created by the summer. The first vaccine named Covo Iran Barakat has already been injected to volunteers.
