OREANDA-NEWSLatvian bank ABLV filed a lawsuit against singer Philip Kirkorov, spokeswoman for the Tagansky district court, Yulia Sukhinina, told the Russian media. “The main debt is 651 thousand euros. Next come fines, forfeit, interest. The total amount will be specified. Now the case is being prepared for trial”, she said.

Earlier, the Telegram channel Mash reported on the lawsuit against Kirkorov. According to him, the bank requires payments due to delays in the mortgage loan. The total amount of the claim is about € 1.5 million ($ 1.66 million), the newspaper writes. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 1, follows from the electronic file of cases.

“There is no bank, it does not exist, it was dissolved in 2018. This morning there was information that Kirkorov had all accounts seized, then the tax authorities explained that it was some idiot who lied. Philip is a bright figure, so they send some nonsense. We’ll understand”, said the singer’s lawyer Alexander Dobrovinsky. On the morning of September 13, the Moscow agency reported that the tax had blocked Kirkorov’s accounts with Sberbank and SDM Bank, but later the Federal Tax Service denied this information, noting that the singer had no debt.

ABLV Bank is a Latvian bank founded in 1993. In February last year, US authorities proposed sanctions against a financial institution because of suspicions of money laundering and violation of the sanctions regime against the DPRK. In June 2018, the Latvian regulator allowed ABLV to begin the process of voluntary liquidation, and in July deprived the bank of a license.

Earlier, a news agency reported a blocking of Russian star accounts by the Federal Tax Service. The agency referred to materials posted at the Bankinform FTS database. According to this information, Kirkorov’s accounts with Sberbank and SDM Bank were blocked.
