OREANDA-NEWS Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that UN Secretary General António Guterres missed the opportunity to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. He announced this following the results of negotiations with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, RIA Novosti reports.

“To my great regret, the secretariat of this organization, including its general secretary, missed the opportunity to achieve a political settlement of the situation in Ukraine,” Lavrov said.

According to him, for seven years, the international organization did not react in any way to the open “sabotage by the Kyiv regime” of Security Council resolution 2202, which approved the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Earlier, Lavrov said that Russia's actions have no effect on food problems in the world and they are associated exclusively with Western sanctions.

“Our actions in no way influenced, cannot influence the problems that have just been mentioned and which were created solely by bans, illegal sanctions that were introduced by Western countries,” Lavrov said.

He also noted that the Ukrainian authorities do not release dozens of ships with food products from their ports.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented on the initiative of EU diplomat Josep Borrell to transfer the frozen assets of Russia to Ukraine and called it theft.
