OREANDA-NEWS Lawyers of opposition leader Alexei Navalny filed complaints against the verdict of the Lefortovo court in the case of fraud and contempt of court. The date of their consideration has not yet been set, TASS reports, citing a source in the press service of the Moscow City Court.

«The court received two complaints from lawyers about the verdict», the agency interlocutor said. The verdict on the next case of Navalny was handed down on March 22. The court found him guilty on both counts and imposed a sentence of nine years in a strict regime colony, a fine of 1.2 million rubles ($14,5 thousand), as well as restrictions on freedom for a period of 1.5 years. The oppositionist pleaded not guilty.

At the end of March, the Supreme Court of Russia refused to consider the complaint of Navalny's defense for a real term in the so-called Yves Rocher case. Currently, the oppositionist is serving his sentence in correctional colony No. 2 in the Vladimir region.

The Kremlin refused to discuss Navalny's new sentence. The press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov also said that the pardon of the opposition politician is impossible, because there are no legal grounds for this.
