OREANDA-NEWS. The German government will try to achieve the closure of all ski resorts in Europe in connection with the increase in the incidence of coronavirus infection. This was stated by Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, speaking in the Bundestag.

“We will try to coordinate the closure of all ski resorts with European countries. Unfortunately, it will not be easy due to the position of Austria, but we will try to do it,” the portal T-online quotes the politician. Easing COVID-19 restrictions in Germany doesn’t seem justified yet, Merkel added. “We understand that the extension of the quarantine causes concern of many people. But you can count on further government support,” the Chancellor promised.

Prior to this, the head of the Austrian Ministry of Finance, Gernot Blumel, did not agree with the position of the Italian authorities, who proposed to close the ski resorts at least till Christmas. It was said that if the European Union takes such a decision, the community will have to compensate for the losses of the ski industry.
