OREANDA-NEWS. Migrant workers arriving in Russia may be required to do fingerprinting. The same measure may apply to those wishing to acquire citizenship of the Russian Federation, as well as all those entering for a period of more than 90 days. This follows from the draft developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and published on the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

The document refers to the passage of fingerprint examination for foreigners and stateless persons arriving in Russia to work or to obtain a work permit. As well as those who arrived for purposes unrelated to the exercise of labor activity for a period exceeding 90 days from the date of entry, or those wishing to obtain citizenship of the Russian Federation. It is proposed to take fingerprints from all the fingers of both hands, as well as describe the signs of a citizen.

Earlier, the head of the IC Alexander Bastrykin said that the regulatory framework governing migration issues is «quite confusing». He proposed to combine all normative acts on this topic into a code and prescribe mandatory DNA registration of migrants in it. In his opinion, this will prevent the penetration of criminal elements into the domestic labor market.
