OREANDA-NEWS Remote registration of sick leave has led to the fact that some Russians lie about the coronavirus for a week's rest, said the Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region, David Melik-Huseynov.

The minister said that in an hour the hotline "122" receives about 1,500 calls from residents of the region. And some of the calls fall on those who pretend to be sick.

"Unfortunately, some people decide to open a sick leave for a week's rest. And you can immediately hear them by their voice. But here conscience is the best controller," the minister wrote on Instagram. He also spoke about "inappropriate calls" to hotline operators for the sake of heart-to-heart conversations and urged not to load an important information channel with such questions.

Melik-Huseynov said that callers with health complaints most often describe the standard course of the disease: "About 2-3 days fever, sore throat, runny nose, cough. Then the symptoms gradually go away."

In this case, patients are advised to take "over-the-counter medications with a minimum of side effects": antipyretic, antiviral, drugs for the treatment of cough, runny nose and gargle. "This is usually enough to improve the condition on the third day. But if after 3 days there is a deterioration (the temperature rises above 38.5, shortness of breath appears), we call a doctor," the official advised.
