OREANDA-NEWS. The National National Coordination Body for Communicable Diseases under the government of Montenegro officially recognized that the coronavirus epidemic in the country is over.

“This is the result of many months of efforts by the entire system and our citizens. Thank you for your trust,” the government wrote on Twitter. At the same time, it was added that meanwhile some restrictions will be canceled, measures against the import of coronavirus remain to be in force.

The President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, in May declared victory over COVID-19 in the country. However, the opposition expressed doubt about the reliability of the epidemiological data of the authorities.

According to the Montenegrin Ministry of Health, a total of 324 cases of coronavirus infection have been identified since the start of the pandemic, 9 people have died. Earlier, the republican statistical agency reported that due to the spread of a new disease in March, Montenegro was visited by 66 % fewer tourists than last year, and in April they did not arrive in the country at all due to imposed restrictive measures.

Since June 1, the borders of Montenegro have been opened for citizens of states where the number of patients with coronavirus does not exceed 25 people per 100 thousand of the population.
