OREANDA-NEWSMoscow Arbitration approved an estimate of 3.08 billion rubles. for the controversial stake in the Calvi case, which the investigation estimates is 600 thousand rubles, blaming the creator of Baring Vostok for fraud on a large scale on this basis. They are talking about 3 billion rubles. Investigators call the figure 5 thousand times smaller.

A stake in Luxembourg International Financial Technology Group (IFTG), in exchange for which Vostochny Bank forgave a loan of 2.5 billion rubles. The first collection bureau (PCB), the PCB itself bought for 2.77 billion rubles. at the Cyprus offshore Balakus three weeks before the agreement with the bank. Such data are presented in the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court, which RBC got acquainted with. According to the document, the capital court ordered an independent assessment of this package in November, and in February approved its results - according to them, IFTG shares cost 3.08 billion rubles.

Four months before Calvi’s arrest, on October 2, 2018, the PCB filed a lawsuit in Moscow’s Arbitrage against its own director general, Maxim Vladimirov (in February, he was arrested along with Calvi and was in jail). The bureau, on the contrary, argued that the IFTG shares were worth more than the debt to Vostochny, while Vladimirov, having repaid the loan in shares, made an unprofitable deal for the PKB, lowering their value by 604 million rubles. After conducting its own assessment, the court decided that the amount of the package was comparable to the amount of the PKB debt - just above 3 billion rubles, and refused to satisfy the claim. The decision was made on February 18, 2019, four days after Calvi’s arrest with partners.

At the same time, for the criminal case against Calvi and the partners, the evaluation of the IFTG shares is not mandatory, as it was done in the framework of the arbitration proceedings, Alexandrov explains. “Calvi’s advocates may try to add this to the criminal case and appeal to this in every way,” but other assessments may also appear in the criminal case, he concludes.
