OREANDA-NEWS. The naval forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization member countries will conduct an operation in the Far North to demonstrate their commitment to freedom of navigation in the region.

This was reported on the website of the British Navy. “The UK, US, Denmark and Norway are working together to boost our readiness to operate in the High North and increase resilience in an area which is vital to UK interests,” the statement reads.

The operation will involve the British type 23 frigate Sutherland and the tanker Tidespring, as well as the American Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Ross and the Norwegian frigate Thor Heyerdahl, supported by a Danish patrol aircraft.

The report notes that this operation is a continuation of the British–American exercises held in May 2020. Then a NATO squadron entered the Barents Sea. 1.2 thousand sailors took part in them.
