OREANDA-NEWS. Yonhap News Agency reported, citing the Ministry of Unification of the Republic of Korea, that the representatives of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) blew up the Inter-Korean Liaison Office.

Earlier, in the border city of Kaesong in North Korea, an explosion was heard and a column of smoke was seen. “At 14:49 local time, the DPRK carried out the blasting of the building of the Inter-Korean Liaison Office in Kaesong,” the Ministry informed.

The Inter-Korean Liaison Office provides communication lines between the military of the North and the South, a hot line between the apparatus of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the presidential administration of South Korea. The building is located on the territory of the DPRK, not far from the inter-Korean border.

On June 15, North Korea announced intention to send troops into the demilitarized zone. Earlier, Kim Yo-jong, the sister of the leader of the country Kim Jong-un, reported about the "next action" against the South. Pyongyang warned Seoul about the possibility of closing the Inter-Korean Post Office, if South Korea does not prevent sending leaflets and other materials to the north.
