OREANDA-NEWS. Reuters agency, citing a senior US administration official and a source familiar with the situation, reported on January 8 that four high-ranked employees of the White House National Security Council have resigned amid the unrest in Washington, DC.

According to the publication, the decision to leave was made by senior director for African affairs Erin Walsh, senior director for defense policy Mark Vandroff, senior director for weapons of mass destruction Anthony Rugierro, and senior director for Middle Eastern and North African affairs Rob Greenway.

Earlier on the same day, it became known that US Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao had left their posts.

Also amid the unrest, President’s adviser on Russia and Eurasia Ryan Tully and four other White House officials, including the chief of staff of the first lady Stephanie Grisham and deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews, resigned.
