OREANDA-NEWS. Only 56 of the 193 member countries of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) believe that Russian opposition politician Aleksey Navalny was injured by a nerve agent from the Novichok group. This was announced on November 30 by the permanent mission of Great Britain in the organization.

“We have full confidence in the OPCW’s independent expert finding that Mr. Navalny was exposed to a Novichok nerve agent. We note with concern that a Novichok nerve agent was also used in an attack in the United Kingdom in 2018. These agents serve no other purpose than to be used as a chemical weapon,” a joint statement published on the OPCW website reads.

It is noted that countries welcome the assistance provided by the OPCW Technical Secretariat after alleged poisoning of Navalny.

It is known that among the countries that supported the statement are the member states of the European Union, Great Britain, Switzerland, Ukraine, Georgia, the United States, Canada, Turkey, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Peru.
