OREANDA-NEWS. International arbitration, created through the mediation of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, refused to rule on the sovereignty of Crimea in the proceeding between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. This is evidenced by documents published on Monday by the institution.

It is noted that this position affects many requirements of Kiev in the proceeding, but not all of them.

Thus, Ukrainian authorities are invited to submit a new version of their requirements by November 20, after which Moscow will have time until August 20, 2021 to prepare an answer.

Ukraine initiated this dispute in September of 2016. According to Kiev, Moscow violates the sovereign rights of Ukraine to use the sea and the continental shelf in the sea zones near the Crimea, including the rights connected with natural resources of the area. The Russian side rejects these charges.
