OREANDA-NEWS. May 30, 2011. Paris hosted a jubilee OECD Council meeting at ministerial level commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Organization. Elvira Nabiullina, the Minister of Economic Development, headed the Russian delegation.

The meeting, held under the motto “Better policies for better lives,” comprehensively discussed the status of and prospects for the world economy, social policy challenges, the role of innovation in economic growth and employment, green growth issues, and trade and development assistance.

The OECD confirmed its interest in the early accession of Russia to the Organization as a full member.

Andrey Denisov, Russia’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Angel Gurria, OECD Secretary General, signed the Letters of Exchange on Russia's accession to full membership in the OECD Working Group on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions and on the start of its accession process to the Convention of the same name.

This step marks the completion of an important intermediate stage in the negotiation process on Russia's accession to the OECD, since anti-corruption issues are a priority for the Organization.

Our country's joining the Working Group should also be considered as recognition of the conformance of Russian anticorruption legislation to world standards.
