OREANDA-NEWS. July 21, 2011. A delegation of the Republic of Austria led by Alexander Grubmayr, Head of the Cabinet of the Federal President of Austria, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital, was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Turkmenistan Ursula Fahringer attended the meeting.

A lively discussion of priority aspects of Turkmen-Austrian cooperation developed effectively in the bilateral format and within the international structures, including the European Union, took place during the talks.

Mr. Alexander Grubmayr and the members of the Austrian delegation were briefed on key aspects of the foreign policy of the Turkmen state that had gained high international prestige due to constructiveness and peacefulness of the foreign policy strategy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and its readiness for an active, mutually beneficial dialogue.

The meeting focused on the major issues related to the upcoming official visit of Federal President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer to Turkmenistan scheduled for the second half of the current year. It was noted that the leader of the Republic of Austria would pay the first visit to our country at the invitation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which had been accepted by his Austrian counterpart during the Turkmen leader’s official visit to Vienna in November 2008.

The bilateral documents to be signed upon the outcomes of the top level talks in Ashgabat and to expand significantly existing close interstate cooperation were considered during the talks.

The meeting participants expressed the willingness to maintain regular intergovernmental and inter-ministerial contacts.

During the visit to Ashgabat the Austrian guests participated in the celebrations in honour of the Day of Health and Medical Industry Workers of Turkmenistan.
