OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2012. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who was on a working visit to Brazil to participate in the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, had a meeting with Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev.

The sides exchanged views on the issues of international politics and expressed the willingness to deepen cooperation in ensuring global security and concert efforts to tackle burning economic, social and environmental issues. Discussing the issues on the global political agenda, the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev touched upon the critical aspects of cooperation in achieving energy security and developing its legal mechanisms, optimizing transport operations on the Eurasian continent and addressing environmental issues.

The sides expressed the willingness to implement joint programmes and projects in the high tech sectors such as development of renewable energy and innovative technologies in strict compliance with the environmental standards.
