OREANDA-NEWS. The Foreign Ministry of Belarus reports that Minsk and the European Union signed an agreement on simplification of visa regime and readmission.

Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Davor Bozinovic (the country presides over the EU), European Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson and Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei took part in the signing ceremony.

The document will enter into force after approval in the parliaments of Belarus and the EU on the first day of the second month after ratification.

“These agreements between the European Union and Belarus are a significant step forward in our cooperation. They will improve the mobility of our citizens in a well-managed and secure environment and help build closer links between the European Union and Belarus,” Johansson stated.
