OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus is ready to take retaliatory measures in the event of expansion of sanctions by the European Union. This was announced on November 17 by Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei after a meeting with President Alexander Lukashenko devoted to foreign policy issues.

“Be sure that these initiatives, if adopted by our European partners, will not remain unanswered. The reaction will be really adequate and very sensitive for our European partners,” Makei stated.

The politician added that outside interference in the internal affairs of Belarus is evident against the background of the geopolitical struggle of world players for their interests. “The interests of a number of geopolitical players have converged around our country, and an open geopolitical struggle is taking place, no matter if anyone tries to deny it,” the Minister said. According to the head of the Belarusian foreign department, “outside interference in the internal affairs of the country is evident.”
