OREANDA-NEWS. The Coordination Council for transfer of power established by the opposition of Belarus is ready for contacts with Russia.

This was announced by the member of the Council’s presidium, former Minister of Culture, Pavel Latushko. “We are ready to state our position, we are ready to present a vision of the situation in one form or another,” the politician answered to journalists being asked whether the Council is ready for contacts with Moscow.

On August 9, presidential elections were held in Belarus. According to the Central Election Commission, incumbent head of state Alexander Lukashenko won. The opposition did not recognize the election results and formed the Coordinating Council for the transfer of power. Lukashenko regarded its proposals as an attempt to seize power, calling the Council “the black hundred.”
