OREANDA-NEWS. US president-elect Joe Biden warned that Americans will face a “dark winter” due to the rise in the number of people infected with the coronavirus of a new type. “There’s a need for bold action to fight this pandemic. We’re still facing a very dark winter,” the politician said after meeting with working group on combating COVID-19.

Speaking about the coronavirus vaccine, he expressed doubt about its widespread use in the coming months.

Biden urged citizens to wear masks and keep social distancing. We can save tens of thousands of lives if everyone wears a mask, he said. “A mask is not a political statement, but it is a good way to start pulling the country together”, the Democratic candidate explained. On November 9, Biden’s advisor announced that the president-elect intends to introduce mandatory wearing of masks. To do this, he will call the governors of all states in the coming days to urge them to oblige residents to use masks. In case of refusal, this issue may be coordinated with the authorities of the counties.
