OREANDA-NEWS. Bloomberg agency reports, citing sources, that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed the government to prepare a plan to restore ties between the country and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

According to journalists’ interlocutors, such an assignment testifies to the desire of the new head of the cabinet to improve relations with the Western countries and the business climate in Russia. Sources state that we can even talk about the resumption of Moscow’s attempts to join the OECD. The organization announced the suspension of all activity in this direction in March 2014.

Russian Ministry of Economic Development informed Bloomberg that Russia intends to deepen cooperation with the OECD. However, according to its representative, the initiative to resume accession negotiations should come from the international organization itself.

The press service of Russian government claimed that the cabinet is considering the possibility of cooperation with the OECD.
