OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov accused Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta of unleashing “anti-Chechen bullying.” He also reproached the Federal Security Service (FSB) for inaction.

“How long will the provocative and explosive anti-Chechen harassment continue, brazenly and shamelessly organized by the newspaper Novaya Gazeta?” the politician wrote in his Telegram channel. “Why is the mighty citadel of our sovereignty, the FSB, in fact condoning the activities of foreign agents, which, behind the cover of supposedly “freedom of speech”, are trying, with their false myths, to re-label my people as hardened criminals, medieval ignoramuses and oppressors of freedom?”

On April 12, Novaya Gazeta published an article by Yelena Milashina “Death from a Coronavirus Is a Lesser Evil” with the subtitle “When the infected were equated with terrorists in Chechnya, the republic’s residents began to hide their illness and die at home.”
