OREANDA-NEWS. Buckingham Palace announced that on April 5, Queen Elizabeth II will make an extraordinary appeal to the citizens of Great Britain and the Commonwealth.

For 68 years of the Queen’s reign, this will be her fourth unscheduled appeal to the nation. Usually she does it only at Christmas. The speech has already been recorded and will be broadcast on television and on radio, as well as on social networks.

The reason for the extraordinary address is a sharp increase in the number of deaths from coronavirus infection in the United Kingdom. According to the Department of Health and Social Care, just in the last 24 hours 684 people died from the complications caused by COVID-19. In total, more than 38 thousand cases of the disease and 3,605 deaths were registered in the country.
