OREANDA-NEWS. President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stated that he hopes for the continuation of the offensive of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in Nagorno-Karabakh. “Azerbaijan has already liberated a large territory. I hope it will continue its struggle until it liberates all its lands in Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said, speaking in the city of Konya. The broadcast was conducted on his Twitter page.

The Turkish President linked the tension in Nagorno-Karabakh with the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and Syria. “If you combine the crisis situations in the Caucasus, Syria and the Mediterranean, you will see that this is an attempt to encircle Turkey,” Erdogan said.

The armed conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabach began on September 27. Baku and Yerevan accused each other of aggression. The situation is aggravated by the fact that Azerbaijan is actively supported by Turkey, member country of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. In turn, Armenia is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
