OREANDA-NEWS. President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country, like Russia, has the right to take part in the settlement of the conflict in the unrecognized Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“If Russia wants to take part in solving the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, then Turkey also considers that it has no less right to take the same participation. I have not heard any news about Russia’s negative position on this matter,” Erdogan told reporters.

According to the politician, the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has not achieved results in the settlement of the crisis in the region. “We continue to work with the Russian Federation on Syria and Libya. I hope we will be able to take the right steps with regard to Nagorno-Karabakh and finally solve this problem,” the Turkish leader added.

The fighting on the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh began on September 27. Armenia and Azerbaijan accuse each other of unleashing hostilities. Ankara is actively supporting Baku.
