OREANDA-NEWS. The United States moderated its position on Turkey’s purchase of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems. This was stated by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Answering journalists’ questions about possible acquiring of the American air defense complexes Patriot, for the supply of which Washington demands Ankara to abandon S-400, Erdogan said that the White House’s position is no longer so categorical as it was before. “Now they are asking just not to put them into operation,” the Turkish leader specified.

On March 6, Erdogan announced that S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems would be deployed in Turkey in April. According to him, those air defense systems are the property of the country, and the servicemen continue to learn working with them. At the same time, the President noted that Ankara is ready to buy Patriot if the US is ready to supply them.
