OREANDA-NEWS. Speaker of the Estonian parliament, Henn Polluaas criticized the initiative of President Kersti Kaljulaid to invite Russian leader Vladimir Putin to the VIII World Congress of the Finno-Ugric Peoples, which will be held from 17 till 19 of June 2020 in the city of Tartu.

“I am very sorry that President Kersti Kaljulaid took this step and invited Putin. I hope that he will not come here,” the politician said to the ERR portal. The parliamentarian added that he does not believe that Russian president will arrive. He also noted that the meeting of the two heads of state in April 2019 had not brought any results.

Earlier, Polluaas said that the state border with Russia should comply with the provisions of the Tartu Peace Treaty of 1920. Politicians and experts called his words ill-considered.
