European Union and China Completed Negotiations on Investment Agreement
OREANDA-NEWS. President of the European Council Charles Michel, head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Chinese leader Xi Jinping during a videoconference agreed to complete negotiations on an investment agreement.
“Today, the EU & China concluded in principle negotiations on an investment agreement. For more balanced trade & business opportunities,” von der Leyen wrote on her Twitter page. The head of the European Commission stressed that the European Union has “the largest single market in the world.” “We are open for business but we are attached to reciprocity, level playing field & values,” the politician resumed.
Earlier on December 30, it became known that the leaders of the EU and China would agree on the basic principles of the document on an investment agreement, negotiations on which have been going on for several years. However, the final approval of the document may take several months.
