OREANDA-NEWS. The official Kiev will impede the implementation of a project for desalination of water for Crimea. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba. So he commented on the statement of the head of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, that in January, a contractor is ready to begin construction of desalination plants to combat the shortage of water on the peninsula.

“There was a statement by the illegal occupation authorities in Crimea that they are attracting a large international company to introduce water desalination technologies. We immediately began work, we will definitely find what to do, and we will prevent the company from implementing this project,” Kuleba said.

Earlier, mainland Ukraine provided up to 85 % of Crimea’s needs for fresh water through the North Crimean Canal, but Kiev completely stopped the supply after the reunification of the peninsula with Russia.
