OREANDA-NEWS. President of France Emmanuel Macron, during telephone conversations with Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, said that the country’s authorities are ready to provide humanitarian assistance to the residents of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The President announced France’s readiness to provide humanitarian assistance and expressed his desire that active steps be taken to protect the region’s religious and cultural heritage,” a statement posted on the website of the Elysee Palace reads. Macron also stressed that the cessation of hostilities should facilitate the resumption of negotiations between the parties of the conflict and the return of refugees to the region.

Earlier it was reported that on November 25, the French Senate will consider a resolution recognizing the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. It is known that the document will be advisory in nature.
