OREANDA-NEWS. The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) condemned the “confirmed poisoning” of Russian opposition politician Aleksey Navalny and called on the Russian Federation to bring those responsible to justice. This is said in a statement published by the US Department of State.

“We, the G7 foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America and the High Representative of the European Union, are united in condemning, in the strongest possible terms, the confirmed poisoning of Alexei Navalny,” the statement reads. It also notes that Germany informed the G7 countries that research conducted by German doctors and a laboratory of the German armed forces revealed that Navalny was poisoned with a chemical nerve-agent from the Novichok group.

“We, the G7 foreign ministers, call on Russia to urgently and fully establish transparency on who is responsible for this abhorrent poisoning attack and, bearing in mind Russia’s commitments under the Chemical Weapons Convention, to bring the perpetrators to justice,” the message adds.
