OREANDA-NEWS. Georgian Prime Minister George Gakharia calls for strengthening US presence in South Caucasus. He discussed this at the meeting with US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo on Wednesday, November 18.

Gakharia is in favor of strengthening cooperation with the United States on defense and security issues in the Caucasus. Georgian politician said, that the two countries strategic partnership is based on values such as freedom and democracy, as well as shared geostrategic interests. According to him, Tbilisi values "the unwavering support of the us people and government for the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity."

"You know very well how important this issue is for our country, whose territories are occupied, since the occupation forces are still stationed on our land," the Georgian Prime Minister said. Mike Pompeo noted that America will do everything possible in the future to strengthen Georgia's democratic institutions and support the country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration processes.
