OREANDA-NEWS. Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany, Peter Altmaier, stated that the introduction of sanctions against the Russian Federation could negatively affect German companies.

According to the politician, the restrictions may hit the business ties of enterprises of Europe and Germany. In this regard, he recommended to “carefully assess the need for their introduction,” the newspaper Handelsblatt writes.

Altmaier stressed that restrictions often affect not only the states against which they are imposed, they also hit the business relationships of companies. The Minister added that the country “should ask what impact the sanctions can achieve and to what extent they can weaken itself in connection with this.”

At the same time, Altmaier noted that the German government condemns the incident with the Russian opposition politician Aleksey Navalny in the strongest terms, and Berlin will discuss the consequences of this event with its partners.
